The Ophthalmology Foundation was pleased to host an ophthalmic educators workshops, “The Vision Forward: The Role of Artificial Intelligence and Electronic Devices in Ophthalmology Education and Practice” on Friday, 18 October.
Support for the OF’s participation was provided in part by Carl Zeiss Meditec USA, Inc.
We were pleased to have over 200 participants in attendance that engaged in discussions and practical demonstrations of technology in the teaching space.
The first half of the workshop focused on examining the practical applications of AI in ophthalmology, inviting educators and clinicians to explore the technology’s current uses and future possibilities. The second half of the workshop provided medical educators an overview of the pros and cons of allowing digital devices in classrooms and will present on different ways of incorporating technology to support learning objectives while ensuring it does not become a distraction. We thank everyone who attended and look forward to future workshops at AAO.
