Leaders in Education

Improving Education Skills of Ophthalmic Educators

The Leaders in Education program is a comprehensive, needs-based program, designed to improve the educational effectiveness of participants. The intended audience are individuals who teach eye care professionals. Typically national societies or supranational societies will be the co-organizers. Programs are designed based on the needs of a particular geographic audience.

Each program consists of at least two components; an online pre-meeting introduction of basics and then a 2-day face-to-face meeting in a venue of the participant’s choice.

Face-to-face sessions can be replaced with a second online meeting if face-to-face meetings are not possible due to travel restrictions or public health concerns. Any additional follow-up educational activities will be determined during the face-to-face meeting. Host responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Selecting an appropriate location, venue, and local coordinator
  • Agrees to pay for and arrange faculty accommodations, meals for days of the course, and transportation to and from the airport.
  • Responsible for appropriate advertising of the course within the region.
  • Ophthalmology Foundation will provide funding for in-person event hosts to hire a professional photographer to provide high quality photos to OF of the event. Host will be responsible for finding and hiring a local photographer for this purpose.
