What Does This Mean for Candidates?
The Reciprocal Recognition Agreement recognizes the value and professional standing of the Fellow of the International Ophthalmology Foundation (FIOF) and the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in Ophthalmology (FRCS Ophthalmology).
It does not change the eligibility requirements or examination pathway for either qualification.
Candidates must continue to meet all published requirements of each organization.
Successful completion of the Ophthalmology Foundation examinations forms part of the Royal College’s FRCS (Ophthalmology) pathway but does not, on its own, confer the FRCS qualification.
